Focusing on You

COVID-19 Resources

Focusing on You

April 17, 2020

Okay, now that we are over a month into the COVID-19 quarantine, what are you doing with your day? You have cleaned, reorganized, and maybe even remodeled your home, but what have you done to improve yourself?

Imagine coming out of the quarantine with new skills that you could immediately apply to your business; things like lead generation, social media marketing, or negotiation skills. Or maybe you prefer to learn something on the personal side of things, like cooking (a very good quarantine skill, by the way), gardening, or maybe a new language. Whatever it is you want to learn, now is the time to focus on you!

So where to begin? The first thing to consider is, how do you like to learn, as the method you choose can make all the difference in the world. Say you are an avid reader, than I recommend reading a book; if I open a book, I am going to fall asleep immediately, so I use Audible. Make sure you enjoy the way you are learning, as studies show, if we like what we’re doing, we will do it more often and have better results.

Below are few resources that I personally use:

Audio Books

Audible: Audible costs $14.95 a month, which gets you one book. Additional books are at a discounted rate. Audible has the largest offering of books, with over 200,000 titles. Audible offers special discount rates for Amazon Prime members. Audible works on Apple and Android devices. They are currently offering a one-month free trial.

Google Audiobooks: Google differs from Audible, in that it does not have a monthly charge, but rather it charges you by the book. Book prices range from $10 to $15. Google offers around 100,000 books; however, I could not find an exact number for you. Google Audiobooks works on Apple and Android devices.

Online Courses

LinkedIn Learning: LinkedIn Learning costs $29.99 a month (or $19.99 a month, if paid annually) and gives you access to its library of over 15,000 titles. You can also choose to buy individual titles without the monthly fee. LinkedIn Learning works on Apple and Android devices. They are currently offering a one-month free trial.

Udemy: Udemy differs from LinkedIn Learning, as it does not offer a subscription, rather it charges you for each course. However, it does offer hundreds of free courses, making it easy for you to give it a try. Udemy works on Apple and Android devices.

As you can see, there is something for everyone! So, pick a topic, find a comfy chair, and get back to focusing on you.
